Dal Rice
This is a very simple and easy dish to prepare. The ingredients are readily available in the
kitchen cabinet.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ Cup of Rice
- ½ Cup of Dal (thuvaraparuppu)
- 2 onion nicely chopped
- 4 pods of garlic chopped
- 2 stalks of curry leaves
- ½ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp black pepper powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- ½ tsp chilli powder
- 1 tsp oil
- 1tsp ghee
- Salt to taste
Preparation
Rinse and cook rice and dal separately.
Add salt to rice and dal when cooking.
Do not overcook; otherwise both rice and dal will get mashed when
mixing. Drain the water from rice and
dal after cooking.
In a pan heat the oil, sauté the
chopped onions, garlic and curry leaves.
Wait till it becomes golden brown; add garam masala, black pepper & turmeric
powder and chilli powder continue sautéing till the raw smell is gone. Add dal mix well then add rice mix well,
careful not mash the rice and dal.
