Homemade Dishes - Chicken Curry

Chicken Curry



A chicken curry with thick gravy

Ingredients
  • 1 kg chicken pieces

Items for marinating
  • 1tbsp chicken masala
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1tbsp soya sauce

Items for masala paste
  • 3 onions sliced
  • 2 carrots chopped
  • 2 tomatoes diced
  • 1 tbsp ginger diced
  • 1 tbsp garlic diced
  • 2 green chillies
  • 2 tbsp coriander powder
  • ¾ tbsp chilli powder
  • 1 pinch turmeric powder
  • 8 pods cardamom
  • 1 tbsp mustard seed
  • Curry leaves as required
  • Salt as required

Preparation

Temper the chicken masala and mix all the items for marinating, add salt to taste and marinate the chicken pieces.

In the mean time heat oil in a pan sauté onions till becomes transparent, add carrots continue.  When carrot gets half cooked add diced ginger, garlic and green chillies, continue to sauté.  Add coriander powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder and cardamom when the raw smell is gone, add tomato and continue to sauté.   Remove the masala mix from the pan and set it to cool, remove the green chillies.  After cooling grind the masala mix into a paste.


Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seed, wait to crackle.  Add the marinated chicken pieces and heat on medium flame.  When the chicken is partially cooked; add the masala paste and cook the chicken.  Add little garam masala for flavor.  Your chicken curry is ready.  Go To RECIPES
