Homemade Dishes - Cucumber Pachadi

Cucumber (vellarikka) Pachadi



Pachadi is made with fresh vegetables finely chopped with coconut, spices and curd.

Ingredients
  • ½ cucumber (chopped)
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ tsp mustard seed (crushed)

Masala mix
  • ½ coconut grated
  • 3-4 pods garlic (diced)
  • 2-3 shallots (chuvanna ulli) diced
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 1 cup curd
  • ¾ tsp cumin seed powder (jeera)
  • 1tsp ginger (chopped fine)

Seasoning
  • ½ tsp mustard seed
  • 2 dried red chillies
  • 1 stalk curry leaf

Preparation

Add little water and cook the chopped cucumber with salt to taste, till cucumber turns soft.

Grind the masala mix items into a paste with quarter cup of curd, add the crushed mustard seed and set it aside.

In the pan heat oil and add the mustard seed, wait to crackle.  Add the dried red chillies and curry leaf and temper it.  Now blend the masala mix paste, cooked cucumber, balance curd and add the seasoning.  Pachadi ready.  Go To KERALA FEAST
